    Madrid (2022)

Arrival and finally paella Madrid was our “relaxation vacation” after the two-week “active vacation” in the form of the pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago from Porto in Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. We actually wanted to take the train from Santiago in northwestern Spain to Madrid, but unfortunately, there were no more seats available and the tickets were also very expensive. So we opted for the much cheaper tickets with the coach, which also took us around 9 hours, which means almost the whole day. The ride started at 6:00 a.m. in the morning. At 9:00 a.m. there was a short break for breakfast and around 3:00…

    Camino de Santiago (2022)

Whether Paulo Coelho’s book on the Camino de Santiago, or Hape Kerkeling’s “I’m off then”. The Camino de Santiago has long ceased to be a mere pilgrimage route for Christians from all over the world. Instead, it is a world-famous phenomenon and as such one of the best-developed and most popular long-distance hiking trails in the world, including being declared a UNESCO World Heritage designation. I, too, first became aware of this pilgrimage route through the media. For me, it was the French film comedy “Saint Jacques… La Mecque”. The concept of spending days, weeks, and even months wandering from one place to another absolutely intrigued me. And so I…

    Jena Canoe Trip

Nathalie wished to go canoeing for a long time and we found out a while ago that this is offered in Jena. But since it could be boring for two and a small canoe is more likely to tip over, we also invited Dominik and René. We chose Jena-Porstendorf as the route, which is only a 2-hour boat trip of around 9 kilometers. We booked an appointment on a Sunday and the weather was fine – just a little cloudy, but no rain. The fact that it had hardly rained in the last few weeks was to be a small disadvantage. The three of us – Dominik, Nathalie and I…

Die Ärzte concert and album “Nummus Cecidit”

Nathalie and I had wanted to go to a Die Ärzte concert for a long time, but unfortunately they had made their last official tour in 2013. But that changed with their new album “Hell” from 2020 (review here), thanks to which the tour “In The Ä Tonight” was announced. Due to Corona, however, this was initially postponed by a year and then ultimately even canceled completely. In 2021, however, Die Ärzte released a second album entitled “Dunkel” (review here), with which they also announced a new tour for 2022, the “Buffalo Bill In Rome” tour. We had gotten tickets for this again, but this time the concert wasn’t supposed…

    Weiß Schwarz TCG

This article is about our hobby “Weiß Schwarz”, a trading card game (TCG) that Nathalie and I play. In fact, it was practically one of the first topics when we first met. In the following I want to explain what this card game is before I show how we came to it. Finally, and on the next page, I show our current decks. What is Weiß Schwarz and what makes it special? As previously mentioned, Weiß Schwarz is a trading card game developed by Japanese multimedia company Bushiroad in 2008. It joins other TCGs like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic or Pokémon. Bushiroad has other card games like “Cardfight!! Vanguard” or “Future Card…

Book Review: Final Fantasy XV – The Dawn of the Future

The novel “Final Fantasy XV -The Dawn of the Future-” was published in Japanese in 2019 and in English in 2020. It includes four DLCs (Downloadable Content, i.e. extra downloadable content) for the game Final Fantasy XV as a narrated story. Unfortunately, three of the four DLCs were no longer released as game expansions for the PS4 main game. In this post I would like to go into how important the book is for the entire universe of the game and what a pity it is that its contents could no longer be published in one context. But the drama begins with the game’s universe as such, which is why…

Scandinavia (2021): From Thuringia to the North Cape and back

Like so many others, the corona pandemic has thwarted our travel plans for 2020. We were in South Africa shortly before the outbreak of the pandemic and even a short vacation on the Polish Baltic Sea was possible in the summer, but we had accumulated a few vacation days that we now, freshly vaccinated, finally wanted to enjoy by traveling for a whole month. Of course, the world was far from what we were used to before 2020. For sure, this was also reflected in our way of traveling and, above all, in our destination. The Scandinavian countries have also taken some special paths, but all in all they naturally…

Activities between Christmas holidays and New Year

The year 2021, like the previous one, was special due to the pandemic. What was new was that Nathalie did not go home for Christmas due to Corona, so we were both in Weimar and were able to carry out our own plans over the holidays and up to the New Year. Of course we were still restricted by the pandemic, but we had just had our third booster vaccination and were therefore able to do a lot to make the last week of the year a special one. The Christmas Holidays Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day fell on Friday to Sunday this time (actually quite stupid on…

Series Review: Cowboy Bebop Live Action

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a big Cowboy Bebop fan. Not only do I think it’s the best anime of all time, I watch all 26 episodes of the series every year and own the complete Bluray box, the manga and even the parlor game. Over the decades there have been rumors that there will be a live action adaptation of this anime, which is also popular in the West. But often it just stayed with the rumors like when it was said that Keanu Reeves should play Spike Spiegel. That was back in the late 2000s. The project was never really tackled because it would have been…

Album Review: “Dunkel” by Die Ärzte

After I have already wrote a review for the first new album “Hell”, it is not very surprising that I am also write one for the second new one “Dunkel”. Funny to mention here is that I actually thought that “Hell” is meant as Englisch word (in German “Hölle”) on the first album. This was also confirmed by the cover, where Die Ärzte are shown with “devilishly” creepy eyes. But since the second album is called “Dunkel” (in Englisch “Dark”) and also has a slipcase where “Hell” can be put in, the German adjective (translated “light”) will probably be meant. Nevertheless, it cannot be ruled out 100% that both words…
