Weiß Schwarz TCG

Our main decks

On this page all our current decks are briefly presented with photos. These are primarily the English decks. We also have a few Japanese decks, but these will only be introduced a little later under the other decks. Since tournaments here in the west are almost always only played with the English meta and these are of course easier to read than the Japanese cards, we more or less agreed on these – even if they are usually more expensive due to the western market. Furthermore, many of the decks can also be found on my EncoreDecks account if someone wants to rebuild or modify them. They are probably more up-to-date there than on the photos here.

Goblin Slayer Red/Blue, 4 Door/4 Standby or 4 Gate

My probably most suitable deck for tournaments in two versions is Goblin Slayer Red/Blue. The core of the deck is the level 1 Goblin Slayer CX Combo with which you get Torches in your hand. The second strategy can either be Standby with Lv3 Witch to predict damage (photo 1 full deck) or to build a wall with Earlyplay Lv3 Priestess CX Combo to block normal damage at all (photo 2, additional cards). Both strategies are quite good, but the first has probably prevailed a bit more due to its flexibility. Standby decks have been dominating the meta a little more for the past few years anyway.

Goblin Slayer Yellow, 8 Shot
(Name: “Who needs Orcbolg?”)

In theory it’s not quite as strong as the red/blue Goblin Slayer deck, but I find it much more fun and coherent to play the yellow deck without the protagonist (hence the title “Who needs Orcbolg!?” from the elf). It has the rather rare constellation of 8 shot icon Climax in one set. However, these are greatly favored by the Lv1 Elf and Lv3 Dwarf CX combo and other cards. It’s quite straight-forward in that it can easily build up a lot of resources in mid-game and deal a lot of extra damage at the end. I also had the Dragon Bones combo in the deck for a while or considered the Female Hero combo, but neither made sense or added value to the rest of the deck’s strategy. But since I watch the anime as well as read the light novel, this is probably my favorite deck right now.

Konosuba Yellow, 4 Wind/4 Shot
(Name: “Darkness behind the Mask”)

I probably played this deck the most (also in tournaments). It’s all Mono Yellow (so don’t worry about colors) and has the really fun Darkness-Vanir combo that lets you change from Lv1 to Lv3. The then following Lv3 swap between Darkness and Vanir brings both a good attack and an annoyingly high defense against opponents. Unfortunately, this change isn’t always stable due to the Waiting Room, and the anti-earlyplay meta has also made the deck more vulnerable to counterattacks. Alternatively, instead of the Lv2 Shot-Icon CX combo, I also had the Lv0 Chris CX combo with “Give back my Panties!”, but this didn’t turn out to be very useful because you already have to collect Climax cards for the Lv1 Darkness-Vanir combo and should not play them before.

Adventure Time Yellow, 8 Choice
(Name: “8 Choices for an Adventure!”)

Sort of a meta deck when it comes to Adventure Time at least – one of my favorite series. The core is the Lv3 “Finnisher” (because of Finn ;D), which can really do a lot of damage. Otherwise you can decide whether you want to play another 4 Choice, 4 Door or 4 Standby at Lv1. I liked Choice better because I think it makes the gameplay more flexible and it still relies on experience. I found the deck so good that I got hold of two signed cards (even if it was more of a coincidence) and put them in, even though Jake is the much more important card in the deck (getting cards for the late game). All other cards are actually only used to collect stock and strengthen Finns.

Adventure Time Red/Yellow, 8 Two Soul
(Name: “The Creeps!”)

Actually a pretty bad deck with the remaining cards from my Adventure Time set. I’d rather put it among the other decks in the last photo, but I like the “Creeps” theme, the Bubblegum and Marceline “What Was Missing” combo, and Jake’s Baking Pancakes meme. The deck should just show how weird Adventure Time is ^^’

Re:Zero Yellow, 4 Two Soul/2 Shot/2 Wind
(Name: “Annoying Children”)

This is Nathalie’s main deck, which she only plays almost exclusively now. She only had it in Japanese at first, but because she liked it best and I wanted to enable her to play in tournaments as well, I gave it to her as a birthday present 1:1 in English (and it wasn’t easy to get all the cards^^’). The deck is characterized by four annoying things: (1.) Lv0 Wilhelm, who cannot be escaped, (2.) Lv3 meta card Felt, which gets free refresh through its change, generates stock and secures damage, (3. ) Felix, who, in addition to healing, also boosts Crush immensely and makes her almost invincible and (4.) probably the most annoying part of the deck, because you always see these cards 90% of the duel, the Lv1 children’s combo Mimi & Hetaro, which supply each other with power and soul and still get each other out of the waiting room. It’s these easy-to-play yet annoying mechanics that Nathalie likes so much.

Haruhi Suzumiya Blue Alien Nagato Deck, 8 Book

Unlike all the other decks, this one is really old and belongs to one of the first Weiß Schwarz sets. Since I myself have also consumed series, film and light novels of Haruhi Suzumiya and Nagato is my favorite character, I wanted to make this deck as well. It builds exclusively on the “Alien” attribute, but apart from 2-3 good cards it only has really old effects that nobody would play nowadays. However, the Lv2 Event, which is still in limited use even in Japan, and the Lv3 Nagato, which can simply restructure the opponent’s entire field for free, are funny. From time to time there are legacy tournaments where only old sets are played, and I hope to be able to play in something like this with this deck.

More decks

In addition to the main decks, we have also built many other decks over time, but at some point we hardly played them anymore for various reasons. I would like to briefly list and explain them here. They are numbered left to right, top to bottom.

  1. Guuren Lagann Blue Anti-Spiral (JP): Still one of my favorite decks by itself because it’s so simple. I love the Mugann army mechanic and the anti-earlyplay at Lv2 is extremely effective even in today’s meta with the standby effects.
  2. Persona 5 Yellow/Red (EN): As a big fan of the Persona series, this should actually be my favorite deck, unfortunately the Lv3 protagonist is so expensive (and I only have one of them) and all the other cards in the set don’t really feel strong.
  3. Konosuba Blue (EN): The deck I probably played the most at the beginning. It consists of only simple effects and has a lot of healing and power. Unfortunately, the extra damage is missing at the end.
  4. Fate Yellow/Red (EN): The basic Fate Stay Night Trial Deck but enhanced with some boosters. At some point, the franchise just got too big for me with its many spin-offs (each of which has its own set, but cannot be combined).
  5. Attack on Titan Blue (EN): Titan Deck made from all cards from previous sets before Final Season. In itself mega strong combos, but unfortunately hardly playable due to the many anti-earlyplay mechanics.
  6. Bunny Girl Senpai Green (JP): Since I have so many red/yellow decks, being a small fan of the franchise and always wanted a green deck with a clock kick, I decided to make a deck here. I found the extra turn mechanics with Tomoe particularly interesting. But I could only get the cards in Japanese and couldn’t really build anything good out of them.
  7. Attack on Titan Red Mikasa (EN): Was sort of my starter deck from Attack on Titan, which I expanded more and more with Mikasa, Sasha and Krista cards. Now it’s almost a low-budget waifu deck.
  8. Batman Ninja (EN): Standard Trial Deck Plus. But the set has hardly given anything to really want to expand it. Apart from that the movie was pretty trash ^^’
  9. Gurren Lagann Green Beast (EN): Similar motive as in Bunny Girl, to play a green deck. But it’s only average (and not as coherent as Gurren Lagann’s blue Anti-Spiral Deck).
  10. Sword Art Online Yellow/Blue (EN): Nathalie’s SAO Trial Deck, which she has continued to expand with new Asuna and Kirito cards. Only at some point the whole Alicization sets came, which also made the old cards obsolete.
  11. Sword Art Online Red (EN): Almost a waifu deck with only Silica (and Lisbeth) cards. Actually with quite bad effects, but there are simply missing cards to strategically build the deck better.

Other decks that I didn’t find quickly enough for the photo are a Nisekoi Chitoge Waifu Deck, a Persona 4 Trial Deck (EN) and a Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko Trial Deck Plus (JP). Nathalie, on the other hand, has a Re:Zero Rem & Ram Deck (JP).
