Departure for a short vacation to Zabrze In summer 2021 and before we wanted to tackle our big camping trip in August, we went to Poland for a few days. The plan was to visit Nathalie’s grandparents, similar to 2018, but this time only to the maternal grandmother, because the paternal from Ruda Śląska had died the previous year. Poland (2020): Short vacation on the Baltic Sea!
Planning and departure Due to the Corona, there wasn’t much to do with vacation in 2020. Fortunately, we had traveled to South Africa in February and had a big vacation this year, but nothing came of it with Egypt / North Sudan in July. Poland (2018)
Why go to Poland? In the summer of 2018 we decided to travel to Poland – or rather Nathalie’s parents gave us a lift. The main reason for this trip was to visit Nathalie’s grandmothers, both on her mother’s side, who just celebrated her 80th birthday, and on her father’s side. In addition, the trip was great for me to do my own research about my family’s past. Although my grandfather with the surname “Lang” had always lived in Germany (and had no small family here either with 17 siblings), my grandmother originally came from Poland – from the town of Hindenburg.
