    Alternative Bear Park Worbis

Nathalie’s father was in Weimar at the time, and we were looking for a nice excursion destination. That’s how we ended up at the Alternative Bear Park in Worbis. We had wanted to visit the park for a while but hadn’t gotten around to it until now. We learned about it through advertisements at the Wildcat Village in Hütscheroda. So, we rented a car and drove to the bear park, which is 1.5 hours away. Upon arrival, we noticed that there were containers with toilets next to the parking lot. These were actually quite clean, possibly due to the signs in the toilets. The signs mentioned that bears also clean…

    Cats in the Park

Let’s start from the beginning: A friend of Nathalie’s from Aikido also has two cats. To give them some variety and prevent them from always being indoors (since they are strictly indoor cats), he occasionally takes them to the park. We were eager to see this, so one day we decided to join him and his cats at the park. While one cat comfortably settled in the grass, the other didn’t want to leave its carrier at all. We were curious to see how our cats would behave in the park. Yuri would probably be quite adventurous (even as a little kitten, he was very curious), but Iva could be…

    Hohenfelden Reservoir

On the last weekend in June the weather was particularly good and so I planned a little trip again. Since we have already hiked enough lately, a bike tour was on the agenda. The plan was to cycle to the reservoir Hohenfelden early in the morning and have a nice day there. Unfortunately, the bike path turned out to be not that ideal at all. A significant part of the route led along main roads and unfortunately it was uphill several times. Somewhere between Weimar Legefeld and Bad Berka we finally stood panting in the indentation of a country road that led through the middle of the forest and wound…

    Gera Zoo

Actually we wanted to go to the wildcat village in Hütscheroda on our one year wedding day… but we soon found out that the train connections to Eisenach and the enclosure are quite complicated and we would not have been able to spend enough time there on the planned day. So we quickly thought about alternatives. Zoos are always a good idea, but we have been to Leipzig and Erfurt the last few years… so we decided for a completely different zoo, which reminds more of an animal enclosure: The zoo Gera! We took the train to Gera-Süd and from there it was not far to the zoo. Nevertheless we…
